Cycling offers a great cardio workout without causing stress on the knees, unlike running. Remember, you don’t have to do this every day in order to succeed. Many people get disappointed, thinking they’ve failed because they missed one day of cycling. Aim for just one day of riding per week and gradually increase frequency.

2. Grow your own herbs and vegetables.

Taking care of a small garden can help you burn a lot of calories. Grow a variety of herbs and vegetables rich in vitamins minerals. It’s also a great way to add flavor to your dishes.

3. Go vegetarian.

Going vegetarian is a great way to lose weight especially for those who have difficulty of shedding pounds. Studies have shown that the hormones and antibiotics given to conventionally-farmed meat can make us fat. Becoming a vegetarian takes a lot of effort and must be done carefully. You have to make sure you get nutrients from other sources once you give up eating meat. This lifestyle is definitely not for everyone. If you’re not up to it, you can just reduce your meat intake which can help save the environment and improve your health at the same time.

4. Support local farmers.

Organically-grown foods are free from pesticides and other poisonous chemicals that are known to cause major health problems. These foods have not been genetically modified, a process which can compromise flavor. Most people find that organic fruits and vegetables taste better. Being locally-grown also means they require less energy to transport.

5. Join cleaning-up activities.

Cleaning up the environment provides a good exercise and gives the people a sense of responsibility of taking care of their environment.

We should start to look at losing weight as a result of living a healthier life instead of being the ultimate goal. Healthy weight will come naturally as we exercise and eat healthy food.
