Everyday Fitness Tips You Can Use

Mar 21st, 2013

fitness tipsIf you find yourself busy and under a lot of stress, going through your exercise routine might be the last thing on your mind. Fortunately, there are so many things you can do to keep you fitness level up even if you don’t have time to hit the gym. Adding moderate physical activities throughout your day can elevate your mood, reduce stress, and improve overall health. Here are simple fitness tips to get you started:

Take advantage of large parking lots

Most people aim for the parking spot nearest their building. Instead of competing for those hard-to-get slots, try parking farther away. Not only will your stress level go down, the extra walk can also help raise your heart rate and elevate your mood.

Use the stairs

Stair-climbing is an excellent way to burn calories and stay fit. Take the stairs instead of the elevator whenever you get the chance. If you need to go to the higher floors, you can ride the elevator, get off two floors below your destination, and take the stairs the rest of the way. You can even add more floors as your fitness level improves.

Use a pedometer

Walking is a very simple and effective way to stay fit. Unfortunately, it’s rare for an average person to take the recommended 10,000 steps a day. Use a pedometer to keep track of your steps each day and increase your average daily steps by 500 each week. Continue to increase your steps each week until you reach the sweet spot.

Pay attention to your diet

What we eat can make us feel better or get us sick. Opt for low fat, high fiber food to help increase your energy and keep up with your fitness goals. Improve your overall health by consuming plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, lean protein, and whole grains.
