Managing Health Care Costs

Monday, May 31st, 2010

How do you manage your health care costs when you are short on financial funding month to month? How are you able to pay for health insurance when you no longer have the finances you once had? You were employed for the last sixteen years and now you find that you are unemployed and unemployment benefits are of no help to see you through this difficult period of time.

Your entire life and that of your family are being turned up side down. Health insurance provisions are the furthest from your mind right now because there are important issues facing you. Unemployment benefits are not enough to make the car payment, keep the utilities turned on, pay the mortgage, and put food on the table. Now you are expected to be concerned about the loss of your employer-backed health insurance.

Well, actually, there are other ways to manage your health care costs, but of course, this is contingent on if you have any money to spare. You can try to look into a temporary medical health insurance plan, but if that is out of the question you can try applying through your state until you can find employment.

The state health insurance provisions will be very beneficial when you have young children or if you are a woman who is pregnant. There are various programs that will allow you to enroll and participate in the health care program while you are unemployed and still receive adequate health care.

There is a certain process that you must follow and there is the necessary paperwork that must be filled out, verified, and submitted before you can officially be on the state health insurance program, but most states do offer provisions to help those in need when they require.

Women, especially single women who find they are pregnant will have an uphill battle to fight for health insurance and is also the reason why many women even today will give birth to their child in the home and find the will and the strength to survive the ordeal along with the survival of their newborn child.

Unfortunately, there are not clear and precise statistics on this particular issue because when these women give birth in the home anything can happen. When you do not have the money to pay for anything, being offered low cost health insurance coverage does no good. By the time, the new mother tries to register her newborn with the state of record; the newborn is usually a few months old.

Uninsured Americans

Friday, May 28th, 2010

Statistically they say there are about forty million individuals living and working in America today who are uninsured for one reason or another. These statistics may be very true, but there are many reasons why some individuals are without health insurance of any kind.

Most individuals without even low cost health insurance are simply because they are not able to afford it on their own. The entire system was set up on a scheme based on more individuals paying into the health insurance system than there were individuals submitting claims. It should have been noted in the very beginning that this type of system is never sustainable. At some point, the scales are going to tip.

The young adults who are just spreading their wings and moving out of their parent’s home usually have no money to pay for health insurance. There is a very good chance that these same individuals are not employed with an employer who even offers health insurance. What happens is these individuals remain for a number of years without any health insurance and visiting a health care provider when they become ill falls by the wayside.

Most individuals are not in need of medical health care and for a cold, flu, and other minor illnesses there really is no need to run to the nearest medical health care physician anyway. Individuals that have serious illness and chronic health care illness are usually eligible to purchase health insurance through the state health program of their state.

The golden rule of late is to visit your medical health care physician for your annual mammogram, prostate exam, annual flu shot, and other incidentals, but in truth, not everyone pays attention. The health insurance industry does send out flyers, notices and reminders through the networks as do the health care providers, but when did life evolve around the health insurance industry and the health care industry.

Are individuals today really so ill that they must meet with a health care provider on a regular basis, or is it more a sign of the times. What happens to those individuals who have a pre-condition that requires medical health care attention, but there is no medical health care physician that understands the pre-condition?

Whom do you turn when there is no one to help you? There currently are many individuals with pre-conditions that require medical health care attention and end up doing the best they can to take care of themselves instead.
