Avoid These Foods Before Your WorkoutWorking out on an empty stomach won’t give you enough energy to perform your tasks. However, eating too much or the wrong kinds of food before your workout might just be as bad because all your energy might be used up for digestion. The following are some foods you should avoid before a workout.

you should be sure to avoid these foods before your workout

Fiber
Fiber-rich foods such as whole wheat, peas, and raspberries help keep your digestion moving, which is the last thing you want when you’re working out. Make sure your pre-workout snacks do not contain more than 4 grams of fiber and wait at least one hour after you’ve finished your meal before you exercise.

Refined sugar You might think that eating donuts before your workout is a good idea since you’ll burn the excess calories anyway. While sugar can give you a dose of energy, it also burns quickly, causing you to feel sluggish later on. If you need more energy before your workout, a piece of banana might be a better option, since it doesn’t burn as quickly and also contains important nutrients your body needs.

Spicy foods
Spicy foods might give you a kick that makes you want to get up, but it can cause discomfort once you start to move. Spicy food can lead to indigestion or heartburn, compromising your workout.

Salty foods
Don’t eat salty food before your workout, or make sure you drink plenty of water if you have to eat it. Eating salty foods can cause dehydration, leading to headaches and cramps.

Heavy foods
Eating creamy, fried, or decadent foods before your workouts can lead to serious digestive upset. If you’re going to eat a giant plate of lasagna, make sure you finish it two hours before going to the gym.

Beans, and other belly-bloating foods
Avoid foods that can give you excess gas such as beans, dairy, and broccoli. These foods may be healthy, but they can cause quite discomfort or even embarrassment when you have to let one out in the middle of yoga class.
