Unlike other health insurance websites which require you to provide personal information to generate a quote. Our website only requires you to enter your location (“county”), who will be covered by the health insurance (“select your status”) & your annual income (to see if you may qualify for Healthy NY, Health Plus & Child Health Plus).
Our search engine can identify if you meet the eligibility requirements for Healthy NY (a low cost option now available to the individual, self employed). If you do qualify, then the application can be submitted directly online (though tax documentation will need to be forwarded through email, fax or snail mail). All information that you submit is directed through a 128bit SSL encryption, ensuring that all data passed is secure. If you discover that you don’t qualify for Healthy NY, then the search engine will offer the next least expensive plan options.
Additionally we are happy to provide information on state subsidized health insurance plans such as Child Health Plus & Family Health Plus.
The carriers that are currently available are; Empire Healthcare (traditionally known as BCBS, Blue Cross Blue Shield), Oxford (a United Healthcare Company), HIP (Health Insurance Plans of Greater New York – an Emblem Health company), Emblem Health (formely known as GHI – Group Health Incorporated) & Easy Choice Health Plan.
Many of the companies quoted offer several different insurance plans to choose from. With most plans, basic coverage includes Hospitalization, major medical, emergency care & many offer prescription coverage. If your choosing a self employed health insurance plan, each Carrier will require proof of your self-employment though tax forms and a minimum of the first month premium.
Several Self Employed plans will require that you become a member of a low cost business association (IRBA LIA & NYSBG). However unlike other associations that require you to be a freelancer in a
certain industry (computers, graphic design etc.) our associations just require you to be self-employed.

Some of the more popular options offered are HMO’s (Health Maintenance Organizations) POS (Point of Service plans) PPO’s (Preferred Provider Organizations) EPO’s (Exclusive Provider Organizations) as well as HSA’s (Health Savings Accounts known as self funded), HDHP’s (High Deductible Health Plans) CDHP’s (consumer Directed/Driven) & Catastrophic health insurance (major medical included).
